Remembering Mother Teresa on 10th anniversary of her canonization

St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish hosts a Mass to celebrate the Feast of St. Mother Teresa of Kolkata and mark the 10th anniversary of her canonization with Auxiliary Bishop Mark Bartosic on Sept. 5, 2026, at the St. Therese Chinese Catholic Church worship site in Chinatown. Missionaries of Charity Sisters joined worshippers at Mass to celebrate their founder. The Missionaries of Charity came to Chicago in 1983, when Cardinal Joseph Bernardin welcomed six sisters to St. Malachy Parish on the city’s West Side. St. Procopius Parish still standing tall 150 years after founding

When St. Procopius Parish was formed a century and a half ago, an offshoot of St. Wenceslaus at Desplaines and DeKoven Streets on the West Side, it was the third Bohemian national parish in what was then the Diocese of Chicago. The parish, now largely populated by Mexican Americans, celebrated its 150th anniversary Sept. 5, 2026.

Deacons continue sunrise service to pray for peaceful school year

Our Lady of Africa art project spreads message of peace

Parishioners of all ages gathered in the hall of Our Lady of African Parish, 607 E. Oakwood Blvd., on Aug. 29, 2026, for Art and Peace, a workshop to create collages out of recycled materials. Dominican University marks 125 years of educating those from underserved communities

Over its first 125 years, Dominican University has moved from Wisconsin to Illinois, changed its name twice and gone from being a women’s college to a coeducational institution. What’s never changed is its commitment to form and educate students from communities who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to go to college.

Croatian Catholics gather for 120th Gospa Velika feast day

St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church celebrates its 120th Velika Gospa, the Croatian celebration of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Aug. 15, 2026. Thousands of Croatian Catholics attended the traditional religious celebration and festival in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood, which included a procession through the neighborhood with floats and the image of Gospa Sinjska.
