Gathering celebrates spirit, memories of Camino for pilgrims

Vincentian Father Chris Robinson hosts a Mass and gathering on July 24, 2026, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 708 W. Belmont Ave., for those who have done the Camino de Santiago in Spain. The Mass took place on the eve of St. James, the apostle who is the patron of the pilgrimage and whose tomb and shrine mark the end of the pilgrimage in Santiago. Pilgrims have been making the walking pilgrimage for over 1,000 years. During the Mass, Robinson blessed those planning to make the pilgrimage in the coming year. He also gave them a shell, which is the pilgrimage's symbol. (Karen Callaway/Chicago Catholic)
